Art and Computers
Intro
to Art
This
course introduces students to basic artistic mediums and techniques. The
fundamentals of art (line, shape, form, value, color, texture) will be explored
through a variety of techniques and mediums (drawing, colored pencils,
cartoons, anime, photography, collage, multi-media, digital art). Art history
will be presented throughout the course. Students will participate in hands-on
projects and will also critique works of art from various cultures and time
periods. Students will access various museums and learn about artistic careers
and opportunities outside of the classroom.
Grading Policy
Class participation will account for 20% of a
student’s grade. Students will be expected to attend class and participate in
discussions, projects and activities. A daily grade is given for participation.
Unexcused absences will result in a zero for that day’s class participation so
regular attendance is an important factor for better achievement. Students will
earn
the remaining 80% of their grade through daily assignments (40%), projects
(20%), tests and quizzes (20%).
Intro to Computers
This
course helps students to become familiar with basic concepts of computers,
including their history and various uses in the home, industry and society.
Students will learn how to create various documents, tables, worksheets and
presentations in Microsoft Office 2007. Programs they will be working with
include Microsoft Word 2007, Microsoft Excel 2007, and Microsoft Powerpoint
2007. Projects and assignments will be hands-on and will be applications of
computers in various everyday tasks for both the individual and various
businesses. Grading
